Why do we have a Turangawaewae festival?

HOBO STOVES
Yesterday room3 made pikelets. We went on the grassed area outside MoTEC. I was really excited. First we picked our stoves and then we got them going. It took a lot of going but we finally got them going. We put butter on the top then poured the mix on.

FANTAIL
Fantails are cool little birds. They often follow you in the bush and eat the insects that you disturb while you are walking. They can flit around and turn very quicklyl using its wings and tail. The maori name for Fantail is Piwakawaka, they are an indicator species and often live in areas of bush with lots of insects. Fantails can live in the bush as well as around houses. They only live for about three years.
NEW ZEALAND FALCON
The NZ Falcon is the fastest bird in NZ with a top speed of 240 kph. The NZ Falcon is the only bird of pray left in NZ and it catchs its own food in mid-air. The NZ Falcon is half the size of a Hawk. The Maroi name for Falcon is Karearea. It also fercly pretects its own teritorial hunting area.

TREASURE ISLAND
This story starts in the Admiral Benbow, an inn. Jim Hawkins (played by Quin) works there. Billy bones (played by Shanti ) comes to stay. He has a map. He was once a pirate, a member of Captain Flint's crew. He is visited by Black Dog (Stevie )who fights him. Then the evil Blind Pew (Sasha ) comes and scares him to death.
Jim gets the map . He gets the Goodies, Dr Livesey (Charley) Squire Trelawney ( Sarah), Mr Dance ( Shannen) and they hire a ship called the Hispaniola. The captain is Captain Smollett (Makayla ) who gets Long John Silver (Madison ) to collect a crew. He is evil and one of Captain Flint's pirates. He collects all the other pirates and away they sail. On the trip Jim hears of a plot to kill them.
When they get to the island the Goodies go to the stockade . The baddies go in search of the treasure . An old pirate called Ben Gunn ( Zion) who has been marooned , arrives and joins the goodies . Jim takes off and sails the ship around the island. The pirates have nowhere to go. There's a big fight. The pirates are winning until they hear Ben Gunn whom they think is a ghost of Captain Flint. Ben screams horribly..
They all run away and the goodies find the treasure and sail back to England
. They all run away and the goodies find the treasure and sail back to England. My favourite part was Sashas song. My favourite character was Jim. I thought the whole show was great. We should congratulate Ms.Smith the pro .

VOLCANOS
Deep within the earth, rock is so hot that it melts to become a sticky substance called magma. When magma is pressurised it is forced up to the Earths surface and it pushes up through the vents.
When the two plates push together they sometimes form volcanos. This is because the pressure forms cracks, and the magma flows through it.

Name of the show: Rock Da House. Leaders of the show were: Pauletle and John who organised it. The band: The Peasants. Soloists are: Makayla, Jason and Quin. Special items: Ukulele group. Songs I enjoyed: Eye Of The Tiger. How do I feel before the show: Excited

I felt happy and proud.
I thought it went really really well. It looked like everybody has having fun.
I thought the soloists did well.
I loved it and I hoped the audience did too.
I felt that it went well and all that practice paid off.

We went to the Kumaras to look at our signs set up and we played a game.
