HOBO STOVES
Yesterday, sixth March room 3 made pikelets on the patch of grass next to MoTEC. It was so exciting.
First of all we had to go up to Mr T one by one to get the ingredients. We put cream and salt into a milk bottle and shook it for three minutes. Then we patted it with a butter patter.
Then we got to go and get twigs and leaves. After that we went and made the pikelets. Laura and I were in a group. We got two each They were yummy. It was so much fun.

FLIPPER THE FANTAIL
The Maori name for the fantail is Piwakawaka. The Fantail is an indicator species. If there are no Fantails in a part of the forest that means there is not many living creatures there. Fantails only live for about three years.
BOLT THE FALCON
The NZ Falcon's Maori name is Karearea and and it is also the fastest bird in New Zealand. The NZ Falcon can fly faster than a cheetah can run. The Falcon doesn't like other bids in it's territory so it fly's up grabs the bird and takes it back down to the ground and eats it. The NZ Falcon is only about half the size of the Hawk.
BOOK WEEK
We have book week to get kids into reading. During the week we did a new thing called drop everything and read where we picked up our books every day at quarter past twelve. On Friday we dressed up in costumes and most people dressed up as pirates but I dressed up as Pippi Longstocking.

TREASURE ISLAND
This story starts in the Admiral Benbow, an inn. Jim Hawkins (played by Quin) works there. Billy Bones (played by Shanti) comes to stay. He has a treasure map. He was once a pirate , a member of Captain Flinty's crew. He is visited by Black Dog (played by Stevie )who fights him. Then the evil Blind Pew ( played by Sasha) comes and scares him to death.
Jim gets the map . He gets the Goodies, Dr Livesey(played by Charlie ) Squire Trelawney (played by Sarah ), Mr Dance (played by Shannen ) and they hire a ship called the Hispaniola. The captain is Captain Smollett(Makayla ) who gets Long John Silver (Maddison ) to collect a crew. Long John Silver is evil and one of Captain Flint's pirates. He collects all the other pirates and away they sail.
On the trip Jim hears of a plot to kill all the Goodies. When they get to the island the Goodies go to the stockade . The Baddies go in search of the treasure. An old pirate called Ben Gunn (Zion ) who has been marooned, arrives and joins the goodies. Jim takes off and sails the ship around the island . The pirates have nowhere to go. There's a big fight. The pirates are winning until they hear Ben Gunn whom they think is a ghost of Captain Flint. Ben Gunn screams horribly..
They all run away and the goodies find the treasure and sail back to England.
My favourite character was the blacksmith (played by Laura) because it was funny at practice because the boys kept kicking her head when they carried her off stage.
My part in the show was the opening act I did a dance with some other girls in my class.
I thought the whole show was amazing and it couldn't have gone better.
We should congratulate Smiddey the producer.

Deep within the earth, rock is so hot that it melts to become a sticky substance called magma. When magma is pressurised it is forced up to the earths surface and it pushes up through the vents.
When two plates push together they sometimes form volcanoes. This is because pressure forms cracks and the magma flows through them.

ROCK DA HOUSE
Parklands school had a choir in the Rock Da House show. The leaders' names are John and Paulette. Makayla and Jason from Parklands have solo parts meaning they sing most of a song by themselves and also Quin played the Ukelele to Hey Soul Sister. The band is called The Peasants. The songs I enjoyed were Something In The Water, Count On Me, Bad Hair Day and Hey Soul Sister. I'm not nervous I just don't want to sit where I am because I'm surrounded by boys.
I thought it went really well and everybody sang their best. Makayla and Jason our soloists did awesomly. I think the audience liked it, they clapped after every single song. I think the evening was really fun and everyone enjoyed it. Everyone was laughing when it came to the yodeling song.

DENTAL HEALTH
What I learned about teeth was you have 3 different types: molars for grinding, canines for ripping and incisors are for cutting. You can take care of your teeth by brushing everyday 2 times a day. Don't eat too much sugar or you will get cavities.
OUR ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT

We made the signs so that people are aware of the birds and eggs. My part was Laura and I made a sign that said No Motorbikes. We went to the Kumaras on the 17th of September to unveil our signs.
Leonardo Da Vinci
Leonardo Da Vinci lived from 1452-1519 and was born on April 15.
Leonardo Da Vinci invented the ball bearing, parachute, ornithopter, machine gun, diving suit, armored tank, self-propelled cart, city of the future, aerial screw, robotic night and much more.
ANIWANIWA

On Monday we had the opening of the new hall. The first thing that happened was Whaea Tania sung a Karanga. After that Mr Major gave a speech. A few minutes later a lady called Reverend Gladys came and blessed it. The whole school had to follow her through the hall and run our hand along the wall. When we had finished doing that Selina, Hinekura and a few adults unveiled the tukutuku pattern. It was called Whaia Te iti Kahurangi. Then Whaea Tania told us a story about the name of the hall which is Aniwaniwa, that means rainbow in maori. The story was about how all the colours thought they were the most important but they are all equal just like all the cultures in our school. At the end we got a cookie and chocolate.
