Turungawaewae Festival

Why we have the Turangawaewae Festival.
We have the Turangawaewae Festival because it celebrates all the cultures of our school.
The other reason why we have the festival is to raise money for the school.

What I enjoyed about the festival.
I enjoyed the hot chips and the fishgame and bouncy castle.

Hobo Stoves
On Tuesday 6th of March
Room 3 made pikelets.
I grouped up with Alana and Charlotte.
We had to get some sticks and twigs
to make the fire and the we got Mr T
to light it of course.   Then we got the mixture and
put it on.   It was fun as we got to put our own on and we were
allowed to flip it with the spatula as well.  My group got to have three
each. They were so good.

Ruru is a small dark brown mottled native owl with large owl eyes
It is nocturnal, eating a variety of insects and small animals such as rats, mice and smaller birds.
Ruru is mainly found in forested areas from sea level to the high country.
Ruru has a variety of calls but derives its common  name from the iconic call that sounds like "morepork".
Ruru is hard to spot because it is nocturnal hidden in forested areas and possesses eenily silent flight.

BOOKWEEK

We have book week because we are a Duffy school.
During the week we had some teachers come and read to us.
On Friday we had to dress up as Island people and we also had the parade.

We should thank Becky for setting all of this up and for being a fantastic librarian.

Book Week By Sophie & Charlotte on PhotoPeach
TREASURE ISLAND
This story starts in the Admiral Bow, an inn.  Jim Hawkins (played by Quin) works there.  Billy Bones (played by Shanti ) comes to stay.  He has a treasure map.  He was once a pirate, a member of Captin  Flints crew.  He is visited by Black  Dog ( Stevie )who fights him.  Then the evil Blind Pew (Sasha ) comes and scares him to death.
Jim gets the map. He gets the Goodies, Dr Livesey (Charlie, Squire (Sarah), Mr Dance (Shannen ) and the hire as called the Hispaniola.  The captain is Captain Smollet, (Makayla ) who gets Long John Silver  (Madison ) to collect a crew.  Long John Silver is evil and one of Captain Flint's pirates.  He collects all the other pirates and away they sail.
On the trip Jim  hears of a plot to kill the Goodies. When they get to the island the Goodies go to the ship. The baddies go in search of the treasure.  An old pirate called Ben Gunn who has been marooned, arrives and joins the gang .
Jim takes off and sails the ship around the island.  The pirates have  nowhere to go.  There's a big fight.  The pirates are winninguntil they hear Ben Gunn  whom they think is a ghost of Captain Flint's.  Ben Gunn screams horribly.
They all run away and the goodies find the treasure and sail back to England.
My favourite part was the END!
Look at Madison sing.
My favourite character was Long John Silver because of her good singing.
