ABOUT ME

Hobo Stoves 

Last week on Tuesday 6th of March Shannen, Lachlan, Sophie, Eddie, Sarah and I all made the butter with cream and salt. We put the butter on hot hobo stoves and we cooked delicious pikelets covered in golden syrup.

Fantails

• 

1. The Maori name is Piwakawaka
2. They live in the bush
3. Their tails are like fans
4. The oldest Fantails is three years 
5. They eat insects while flying in the are
6. Fantails hang around you when you are in the bush and when you scuff up insects from the ground 
7. They can flit around by using its wings and tails.

Ruru (Morepork)

Ruru is a small dark brown mottled native owl with large owl eyes. 

It is nocturnal  eating a variety of  insect and smaller animals such as rats mice and smaller birds .

Ruru is mainly found in forested areas from sea level to the hight country .

Ruru has a variety of calls but derives its common name from the iconic call that sounds like more-pork.

Ruru is hard to spot because it is nocturnal hidden in forested areas and possesses eenily silent flight.

BOOK WEEK

We have book week because we wont to encourage kids to read books.

During this week we get read to by parents .

On Friday we dressed up and had a parade down town .

 TREASURE ISLAND 

This story starts in the Admiral Benbow, an inn. Jim Hawkins (played by Quin) works there. Billy bones (played by Shanti ) comes to stay. He has a map. He was once a pirate, a member of Captain Flint's crew. He is visited by Black Dog (Stevie )who fights him. Then the evil Blind Pew (Sasha ) comes and scares him to death. 

Jim gets the map . He gets the Goodies, Dr Livesey (Charley) Squire Trelawney ( Sarah), Mr Dance ( Shannen) and they hire a ship called the Hispaniola. The captain is Captain Smollett (Makayla ) who gets Long John Silver (Madison ) to collect a crew. He is evil and one of Captain Flint's  pirates. He collects all the other pirates and away they sail.  On the trip Jim hears of a plot to kill them. 

When they get to the island the Goodies go to the stockade . The baddies go in search of the treasure . An old pirate called Ben Gunn ( Zion) who has been marooned , arrives and joins the goodies . Jim takes off and sails the ship around the island. The pirates have nowhere to go. There's a big fight. The pirates are winning until they hear Ben Gunn whom they think is a ghost of Captain  Flint. Ben screams horribly.. 

They all run away and the goodies find the treasure and sail back to England

My favourite part was  Michaela pretended to be drunk. My favourite character was Billy Bones. My part in the show was a dancer. I thought the whole show was great. We should congratulate Smiddey  the producer.

  

Volcanos

deep within the earth rock is so hot that it melts to become a subtance called magma when magma is pressurised it is forced up to the earths surface and pushes up throgh the vents.

when two plates push together they sometimes form volcalcanoes this is becauce pressure forma flows though them. 

                                                                                                                  THE OLYMPICS

The Olympics were held in London The participants were athletes from all over the world. How I thought after the show: Happy and excited. How it all went: We all sang well and had a excellent night. How the soloists performed: They were awesome. How the audience liked it: I thought the audience like it because my Mum and dad  love it. How I felt about the evening: Happy I would like to do it again.

                                             
   Our environment project 

We made the signs because  we want  to protect the birds  from getting hurt.
My part was  doing the writing "Watch Out for Nesting Birds" in block letters
We went to the Kumaras and had a look at our signs.

ANIWANIWA 

On Monday 29 October the whole school went down and blessed the new building.

The new building is called Aniwaniwa.  First of all Whaia Tania welcomed us.

Then Mr Major made a speech. After that Whaea Tania explained the named, Aniwaniwa. It means rainbow and it reflects our multicultural school.
