My name is Conrad . My age is 10 turning 11 next year. My birthday is on March 22. My favourite colour is green. My favourite sport is rugby. My goal for 2012 is to get better at my slope in handwriting.

TURANGAWAEWAE FESTIVAL
We hold the festival:
- To make some money for things like sport equipment and doing up our new hall.
- To celebrate our culture at our school.
- To show our school to the public.
Hobo stoves
Yesterday RM3 made pikelets on hobo stoves. We made them outside of MoTEC.
First of all we made some butter by shaking cream. We had to pour all the butter milk out into the sink. We patted the butter and squashed it into a cube. When we were patting the butter milk went all over me.
After that we made the mixture and gathered all the sticks. I kept dropping the spoon in the mixture.
Finally we put all the sticks into the hobo stove and lit it. My pikelet was first. At the end our hobo stove caught on fire. Mr T put it out with water.
I felt happy that we made pikelets instead of doing school work.

FANTAILS
Piwakawaka is the maori name for fantails. Fantails are a very cool bird because when you walk around they follow you because you are scuffing up the ground so they can fly down and eat the insects.
Fantails live for a very short time. The longest fantail to live is around three years of age.
They can eat bugs well flying in the air non-stop. They live in the bush and on the lowlands.
When it flies the fantail looks like it's jumping.
The N.Z falcon
The Maori name for the N.Z falcon is Karearea. It lives up to 25 years old. The N.Z falcon is half the size of a hawk. The N.Z falcon is the fastest bird in N.Z . The N.Z falcon is the only bird in N.Z that catches their prey while flying.
We have book week because we are a duffy school and to enjoy books . During the week we stop dropped and read for 10 minutes . On Friday we dressed up and walked though town plus though the kindergarten . We should thank Becky for organising the day.

BOOK WEEK BY LACHLAN AND CONRAD on PhotoPeach
TREASURE ISLAND
This story starts in the Admiral Benbow, an inn. Jim Hawkins (played by Quin) works there. Billy bones (played by Shanti ) comes to stay. He has a map. He was once a pirate, a member of Captain Flint's crew. He is visited by Black Dog (Stevie )who fights him. Then the evil Blind Pew (Sasha ) comes and scares him to death.
Jim gets the map . He gets the Goodies, Dr Livesey (Charley) Squire Trelawney ( Sarah), Mr Dance ( Shannen) and they hire a ship called the Hispaniola. The captain is Captain Smollett (Makayla ) who gets Long John Silver (Madison ) to collect a crew. He is evil and one of Captain Flint's pirates. He collects all the other pirates and away they sail. On the trip Jim hears of a plot to kill them.
When they get to the island the Goodies go to the stockade . The baddies go in search of the treasure . An old pirate called Ben Gunn ( Zion) who has been marooned , arrives and joins the goodies . Jim takes off and sails the ship around the island. The pirates have nowhere to go. There's a big fight. The pirates are winning until they hear Ben Gunn whom they think is a ghost of Captain Flint. Ben screams horribly..
They all run away and the goodies find the treasure and sail back to England

VOLCANOES
At the centre of the earth is a solid metal core , which is surrounded by an outer core of liquid metal. Around this is a layer of hot rock called the mantle. The surface is broken up into large pieces called tectonic plates.
Deep within the earth rock is so hot that it melts to become a sticky substance called magma. When magma is pressurised it is forced up to the earths surface and it pushes up through the vents.

New Zealand had a very successful games. We won 6 golds, 2 silvers and 5 bronze medals. ROCK DA HOUSE
Rock Da House is a music festival that where people sing. The leaders are John and Paulette. They helped us practise the songs. The soloists from our school are Ouin, Makayla and Jason. The song that I enjoyed is Hey Soul Sister. The band that was helping us is the Peasants. I feel nervous about tonight.

Thoughts After The Show I felt happy after the show because we sounded great. It was good but we mucked up a few times. The audience laughed and had a great time.
DENTAL HEALTH
I learned that incisors are used for cutting. The canine is used for tearing and ripping. And molars are for grinding. You have to brush your teeth for 2-3 min. Eat healthy food like sandwiches , fruit and all other kinds of food.
OUR ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT
We went to the Kumaras on Monday the 17 of September. We played games and we got treats as well. We made the signs to protect the Godwits. My part was to make a sign with my buddy Corey. Our sign said NO MOTORBIKES. It was a fun day.
ANIWANIWA
On Monday 29th of October we had the opening of our new building called Aniwaniwa. Then Whaea Tania came and did the Karanga. After that they opened the doors and we blessed the building. Then Mr Major gave a speech and the Kindergarten Kids came up and whaea Tania told a story about what Aniwaiwa means and it meat rainbow. At the end we got a biscuit and lollies. It was fun but boring sitting down.
