HOBO STOVES
Yesterday we made Pikelets on Hobo Stoves because we are studying the olden times.
First of all we made butter by shaking cream. It didn't taste very good. After that we mixed milk, baking powder, flour and the butter we made together. That tasted a lot better.
Finally we got to cook the pikelets on the Hobo Stoves. We did it by lighting a match and put that in. Before that we put sticks and leaves in. We put the butter on with the mix . The Pikelet was slowly making itself and in about two minutes I had the first Pikelet .
Then George had one then I cooked one for Jackson. I got the last one, lucky me.
I felt happy because I got the most of everyone in my group and they were delicious

On Friday we dressed up and walked down High street and came back and then walked through the kindergarten and went back to school. We should thank Becky for organizing book week.![]() |

VOLCANOES
Deep within the earth, rock is so hot that it melts to become a sticky substance called magma. When magma is pressurised it is forced up yo the earths surface and pushes up through the vents.
When two plates push together they some times form volcanoes. This is because pressure forms cracks and the magma flows through them.
At the centre of the earth is a solid metal core, which is surrounded by an outer core of liquid metal. Around this is a layer of hot rock called the mantle. The surface is broken up into large pieces called tectonic plates.

MY THOUGHTS AFTER THE SHOW.
The Rock Da House show was awesome and fun to be a part of. The show went well apart from a few mistakes especially from a few of the soloists. It was fine apart from that and it would help because I was there singing. The soloists peformed well apart from one or two mistakes. The ones from our school were very good. The audience loved it especially the Austrian yodeling song where they repeated all the actions that we did. I loved the whole evening and being in the front row was even better
OUR ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT
We made the signs because we were trying to warn people to be careful of the birds and the eggs on the Kumaras. My part was to make one of the signs and paint it. Mine and George's sign said 'don't harm wildlife'.
We went to the Kumaras on the 17th of September to see the signs that we made.
ANIWANIWA
On Monday 29th of October Parklands school's new multi purpose room called Aniwaniwa was opened. The name is from the rainbow colours to celebrate the different at our school. At the start we walked through the building and blessed it. Then Whaea Tania told us about the colours fighting about which one was the most important. Then Selina and Hinekura unveiled the tukutuku pattern. At the end we got chocolate and cookies. The first time we used it was later in the afternoon for kapa haka.
